Card sorting exercise proved to be extremely useful when creating a sitemap and user flows. Since this is an online business directory, I decided to focus more on the directory section of the website. I asked 10 card sorters to place all the cards they thought that would fit into different categories. One thing that really stood out was that more than half of the card sorters placed one of the cities that is a touristic destination under “Outdoor Activities”. and another interesting finding was that a lot of people didn’t know one of the most famous festival in Texas and their response was of course in the unspecified category. I was of the opinion that people who have roots in Texas would be familiar with these festivals, but I was wrong.

Card sorting exercise helped me a lot to create the sitemap. After I completed card sort & sitemap, I went back to my persona and empathy map ( these were my guide) and sketched out individual user flows for all the personas I created. These user flows were task driven user flows.
